October 19 the entire SMART Lab will visit the Henry Doorly Zoo.
- Plan to arrive at the zoo by 4:30. We will meet at the gate and wait for the buses.
- Dress casually and comfortably for walking and exploring the zoo.
- Have students back on buses at 5:45.
- Look at this trip as a true FIELD experience in which your students explore a part of the zoo to gather data or make inquiry that will lead to further investigation.
- Review the educational materials provided by the zoo.
- Be sure to have a written lesson plan for the trip (see Field Trip information)
- Include tasks for students to complete while at zoo
- Plan follow-up activities for the zoo trip.
- Plan to share findings with entire SMART group.
