Personal Heritage Paper

Before we can learn about and understand others, we need to know and understand ourselves. The purpose of this paper is to help you examine your experiences and those of your family to discern the origins of your own feelings and attitudes about people from various cultures. You might find it helpful and enlightening to talk with your parents, grandparents or other relatives to obtain information.

Describe and elaborate on the importance to you of the following:

	your own racial/ethnic/cultural/religious heritage
	family customs and rituals
	any prejudice experienced (as victims or perpetrators) by you or family members
	when and where your ancestors entered the United States
	occupational patterns of your cultural groups
	events or circumstances that strongly affected your life or that of family members

Tell how you obtained the information included in your report. Due January 30.
